Imran Khan says only independent commission can hold transparent elections

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that
without an independent election commission the dividends accruing from
the independence of Judiciary shall not reach the masses.

Accordiong to PTI Media Cell, Imran said that only an independent
commission can hold free, fair and transparent elections to help usher
in true democracy in the country. He said all the contesting political
parties in gilgit - baltistan,mansehra and swat bye-elections have
leveled pre poll and polling day rigging allegations on the
Government, yet no action has been action taken by the election
commission to redress the grievances of the aggrieved candidates.

He further disclosed that massive pre poll rigging is being enacted by
the Government machinery specially by officials of education, health
and police departments and development funds are being abused at PF-75
lakki marwat in favor of Naseer Mohammad Khan candidate fielded by JUI
(F), but election commission remains a silent spectator.

He urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to
ensure independence of election commission and take immediate notice
of this blatant rigging.
